My name is
Eric Pederson
and I make websites.

Who Am I?

When I was around 9 years old, my parents gave me my first computer, a Commodore VIC-20. It had 3.5k of usable RAM, enough for about a page of text. But with the VIC-20, I became hooked on BASIC. My fellow nerd and I would stay up late into the night typing in code from computer magazines to make some lame game, which was never as fun to play as it was to create.

I've been doing web design and development for over five years now. My specialties include HTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery, MySQL, Wordpress and Photoshop, among others.

When it comes to websites and applications, I aim to create experiences that are easy to navigate, easy on the eyes, and function the way they're supposed to. I believe in keeping things simple and clean, whether it's the frontend or backend UX/UI design, or the code itself.

Besides the interwebs, I've been known to spin records, make music, take long, meandering walks in the sun, and occasionally shoot a decent game of pool.

Role: Development, Design
Technology: WordPress, HTML/CSS, PHP, Javascript/jQuery, MySQL

This site is one of four that use a WordPress theme I made for film industry directories. There are also annual printed versions of each directory. The websites were originally created by another developer, and were not using a CMS framework. Also, backend admin was limited and not very user-friendly. The administrator needed to go into the server and use PHPmyAdmin to export the data, then import it into Excel to edit it.

My tasks were to clean-up and and optimize the databases, integrate them into the WordPress DB, migrate the sites to VPS hosting, switch the advertising system from Open-X to Google DFP, and build a responsive and mobile-friendly WordPress theme with a customized backend and frontend.

The homepage was designed by the owner, Matthew Tolley, and rest of the site was designed to keep a consistent theme. Built on WordPress, the client has added a lot of content and beautiful images.

An existing theme was modified for the resulting look and functionality, along with a few plugins. I also migrated the site to my personal VPS server. In addition to this site, I host about 10 other sites on my VPS.

This site is using an existing WordPress theme customized for the client. The client chose a color pallete and provided the logo, and the rest of the theme was designed around these elements. Yelp and Schedulicity APIs were utilized for reviews and online appointment scheduling.

This is a custom WordPress theme I developed from a provided design. The theme is integrated with proprietary plugins that access real estate MLS databases which provide detailed neighborhood information, and up-to-date data on home sales.

This is an example of a site using a WordPress plugin I developed for use with proprietary custom real estate themes. The plugin is integrated with other plugins that access real estate MLS databases, to provide detailed neighborhood information, and up-to-date data on home sales.

The plugin includes widgets and custom options, and allows for users to search for homes for sale in very specific areas, all the way down to a specific building.

This site is using another WordPress theme I built for real estate websites. It was created as a framework for production teams to quickly create sites, and minimize the amount of custom work that was being done. The theme is integrated with propietary plugins that access real estate MLS databases, to provide up-to-date data on home sales in any area.

Within this theme, I also created several widgets and theme-specific plugins, and developed a reusable plugin to showcase the neighborhoods in a given region, for any site built on the framework.

Some tools I use, and things I do.
